At Hope City we take the role of worship very seriously, whether that is on the House of Prayer teams or on our Hope City Worship Team.  We want worship to be accessible, allowing all who desire to sing and play to God with a sincere heart, to do so.  However, along with zeal, there is a certain level of preparation and commitment, both spiritual and natural, that goes into making each and every worship setting effective.   There are also some
foundational elements concerning the role of worship that must be understood.
Our expectations here are as follows:

All those apart of worship team are required to attend Sunday Services:
Wednesday Bible Studies and/or Friday Night Fire in the Night on a weekly basis.
If unable to attend either because of work obligations, you must attend
prayer during one of the allocated weekday openings.

The following contains information on:

Spiritual Preparation
Musical Preparation
Attitude
Dedication/ Punctuality

We believe worship is more than a song, but rather, it is a lifestyle.   Prayer, fasting and time spent in
the word are a necessity  and requirement of all who are apart of this ministry

Psalms 24:3  Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in his holy place? He that
hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
Romans 12:1   I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of
God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Ephesians 4:1  I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy
of the vocation wherewith ye are called
John 4:23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the father in
spirit and in truth:  for the Father seeketh such to worship him

Worship is our response to God Himself; His love, mercy, faithfulness, eternal reality and all that He is.
We believe through our worship (lifestyles) we align ourselves with heaven and position ourselves to be used as yielded vessels the Lord can inhabit, releasing the Kingdom here on earth through us.  It is the choices that we make on a daily basis and our willingness to live and to love like Jesus that will determine the sound we release before the people.  We endeavor to release the eternal glory that is presently around the throne of the Lord and to reflect the nature of Jesus, where we are not just hearers of the word, but doers. Living in close relationship with God is a beautiful and amazing privilege.  Our worship leading, in the corporate sense, is a reflection and
overflow of our private devotion before the Lord.  Our surrender and complete submission to
the Holy Spirit allows Him to take complete control.

We believe as children of God, everything should be done in the spirit of excellence.
We believe that as minsters of worship we are to play skillfully. Here are few references:

Psalms 33:3   Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
2 Chronicles 34:12   And the men did the work faithfully; and the overseers of them were Jahath and
Obadiah, the Levites, of the son or Merari….., all that could skill of instruments of musick
1 Chronicles 25:7   All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the Lord with
cymbals, psalteries and harps for the service of the house of God…that were instructed in the songs of
the Lord, even all that were cunning.

So you see here, though every believer and son and daughter of Christ is invited and instructed to
offer praise and worship before the Lord individually, in a corporate setting there is a level of skill that
is required.   Those interested in joining the House of Prayer Worship Sets or the Hope City Worship Team
must audition and be tested on skills necessary to singing or playing a musical instrument.
Some of these skills include:
Memorization, Intonation, Blend, Harmonization, Musicality,  Ability to sing
and/or play in front of others and ability to Follow Direction.

If selected, those interested in serving as a part of Hope City Worship Music Ministry must be willing
and able to attend all designated rehearsals.  See availability chart for projected ministry opportunity dates.

Unity is key in ministering effectively as a worship team. Gossip, slander, sowing of discord, disrespect of leadership or fellow team members is UNACCEPTABLE.  All participants must be willing to submit to appointed Hope City Worship Team leadership, as well as all other appointed leadership within Hope City House of Prayer.

At Hope City we seek to establish an atmosphere of honor.  We do this to be a reflection of heaven and of the character of God.  The use of appropriate titles is expected for all elders and Pastor Brian.  We do this not because of a need to find identity or value in function, but to call forth purpose and establish a spirit of honor and order.  This example is set by those who are standing before the people of God on a frequent basis.  Being that the
Worship Team is on the front line of attack, we are not ignorant of the enemy’s devices.  His first tactic in a body of believers is to try and sow discord, create division, the spirit of offense, etc, in an effort to breach unity amongst us and hinder the move of God.  Any who make a decision, as led by the Holy Spirit, to join the Hope City Worship Team ministry are to guard their hearts and minds at all costs from these kinds of attacks and always maintain a heart posture of humility and an eternal perspective of the role we play and how vital each service truly is to the plan of God.  They must maintain an “It’s bigger than me” mindset at all times, doing whatever necessary to pursue peace and safeguard the unity of the body, that the Lord’s will be accomplished in the hearts of His children.

Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
James 3:14-16-But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthy, sensual, devilish.  For where envying and strife is,
there is confusion and every evil work
Psalms 15: 1-3 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in the holy hill? He that walketh
uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with
his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor taketh up reproach against his neighbor.
1 John 4:20-If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother
whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
Luke 11: Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth

Being that we are a team, all members are expected to respect all members.  This respect includes the time of peers.  We acknowledge life happens and we understand the complexities of everyday life and schedule variations, however, it is crucial for effectiveness, efficiency, preparation, etc, that all arrive on time to scheduled rehearsals, meetings, or times of ministry.  Rehearsal time is not to start later than 10 minutes after specified.  The first 15 minutes of rehearsal is to be dedicated to prayer/sound check.  If you will be running late, it is your responsibility to inform leadership immediately once made aware.  If you know in advance that you will be unable to attend a scheduled meeting time, we ask that you make us aware IMMEDIATELY upon being made aware, so that we can make necessary adjustments or be sure not to schedule you to minister at the specified time of absence.  The Hope City  Worship Ministry is not a club to start and stop causally. However, The House of Prayer is a little more flexible with commitment times.  We ask if you will not be dedicated with your time, that you choose an alternative outlet of worship, rather than enter into a commitment with the Worship Department lightly.
